Made my way from the upper trailhead for Mt. Ellinor and made my way over to the old Bear Camp shelter. Pretty good trail took me over to the east side of Copper Mountain. Turned around at the first meadow due to the heavy underbrush and I was by myself.
Tried to traverse to the mount rose trail at the saddle on my way back. Turned around about half way there due to the jumble of downed timber.
Settled for a trip up Ellinor on my way back. A grand adventure it was following the old trail over to Copper.
I have done that route except that I went to Mt Rose but not Copper Mountain. I've been thinking about camping in one of those meadows on the way to Copper, but the thought of the crowds at the Mt Ellinor trailhead scares me off. I guess the middle or lower trailhead could be a better starting point.
I started at the upper trailhead and took the old road bed to where it intersects the main trail. Started at 8;30 on a weekday. Didn't see a soul until I hit the main trail on my way back and headed up Ellinor
