I'm flexible in the two weeks after Labor Day. I'm planning East Fork of the Wallowa-Polaris Pass to the Lakes Basin but am open to other routes or other parts of Eagle Cap Wilderness.
I did this route in 2013... but Polaris was socked in so bad I couldn't see the trail 50' ahead... and then a thunderstorm brewed up that threw lighting bolts w/thunder booms 3 seconds after the flash. I was SKEERED and fled the pass as fast as my feet could stumble.
So I still haven't seen the views that are probably the best in Eagle Cap.
Here's a trip report of mine (West Fork of the Wallowa -- Lakes Basin) from 2010. https://www.oregonhikers.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6328&p=39802#p39802
