Wow. I've never heard of beavers being a carrier of rabies before. Even if it wasn't rabid, they can weigh as much as 70 lbs and are more adept in water than we are, I certainly wouldn't want to have an aquatic fight with one. And they chew right through trees, so skin, muscle and connective tissue would offer hardly any resistance to those teeth.

Lot of experience with beavers in Canada the national animal. First they are big lots bigger than cartoons imply. Second they have huge teeth and know how to use them. Third they stink. Fourth they are very territorial. Finally they are excellent swimmers better than otter. Formable animals.

I was on my raft fishing in a small lake near Priest Lake, Idaho when something slapped the water behind me, didn't see the beaver but it had to be, I was near a small island, a very small one, in the middle of Petit lake. Being bitten by a beaver would be no fun. mad.gif Note: fish are small but lively. Then north of Priest Lake, about 15 miles from the Canadian border is a very large (and old) beaver dam on the North Fork of the Priest river. One can walk across it downstream for about 100 yards, over many very large trees. Below the dam is a nice sandy beach area and we once found a bunch of bear bones there, at least we think they were bear bones. Locally, beavers are taking over the Ashland lakes, and of course there is Beaver Plant lake just above them...what's up with that name? Did they try to plant beavers and if so did they grow? confused.gif ....and now the fishing sucks, the beavers have messed up the ecosystem there, or made it better, who knows?

The tree was kind of hard on the beaver that night. clown.gif Where was that if you don't mind saying?

Several oscar-winning films have been made about large groups of rabid beavers attacking.
