This place had been on my 'to do list' for decades: many decades...
The road in gets really gnarly. But when we got to the TH there were just 15 cars there. (including a fairly new BMW sport coupe with tires
that were never meant to leave the pavement )
On the way in we had a constant mix of: sun, rain, or snow. The trail is in great shape. With only
1 downed tree to walk around.
When got to the meadow, there was no one else there
There was a bit of snow during the night. But the morning was bright and clear. So we headed up
to Spider Gap.
That miners trail is merciless in it's steepness ! But once on top.
The larches were in all their golden-ness. And there was still lots of fall color on the hill sides.
We continued up on the glacier. To views of Phelps basin and beyond.
When Jeanni was there 10yrs ago. The Spider Glacier was continuous all the way to the Pass.
Now it is in 3 sections
That next night the temps dropped into the single digits: There was more ice on the inside
of the tent, than the outside :
But our zip together 15F bags kept us fairly comfortable
We made hot drinks and headed over to sit on a rock in the sun to get us warmed up before
heading out.
Good trip.

Looks like a great day! Good color, too.
