So when the forecast calls for three days of rain, do you postpone? Heck no! Originally we planned on 46 miles, Pilot Ridge, Blue Lake, PCT north and out via Lost Creek Ridge . Well Mother Nature had a plan that differed from ours. Running into snow at 5500 feet and knowing that we were going to 6000+ caused us to hunker down in a campsite prepared by a fire crew right on the ridge.
Woke up and went back to bed. Downpour to the tune of 5 inches caused us to contemplate retreating. No says my partner (Brad). Well rewarded we were as the sky had no more rain and due to the delay we had to bail a day early and a promise to get it done next year.
Best berries ever! Saw 15 people in total and were able to aid a Nobo thru hiker. This is why I backpack!!!
