Never with Century Link, since I haven't used that type of service since the '90s. I did use it to good effect with Comcast/Xfinity 2 years ago. Worked well with Spectrum in NYC 4 years ago.
I'm not sure why you feel it is useful to others to disparage an idea as not working through speculation. If you had the opportunity to try the idea and it didn't work, that would be useful information to report.

Sorry you felt disparaged, but it seems my speculation, at least with respect to your data, was accurate. "Speculation" is a frequent sport around here, but not often intended as an ad hom, but, that's just speculation on my part.
