I walked through the International District today for the first time since before the pandemic. Nearly every single one of my favorite restaurants had their windows covered in plywood. Decorated plywood, but still plywood. At first I thought they might have gone out of business but then realized they were still open. Tacoma has its share of boarded up businesses right now, but nothing like I saw in Seattle. It was very post-apocalyptic. Other than that, the neighborhood seemed more or less the same. Lots of people out and about.

O' well my bad, I guess all the burning, looting, violence, and destruction in Seattle and Portland a year or so ago was all fake news, I mainly watch KIRO or KING5. Good to know they are not to be believed. This thread title should read...."Smart people are moving out of urban counties while the getting is good".
Stay in Idaho, it is completely safe there. https://www.krem.com/article/news/local/kootenai-county/293-7165817b-e6ef-4d95-90f8-76f12b4c7585
Yea, well here we take out the trash, we don't give them free drugs and room and board. O' and for you, please stay out of Idaho, we don't like your kind.

a goodly number of yours are moving here and buying up property, making changes to more suit their previous life style. raising the cost of housing. I have a friend who owns several acres of old railroad bed bordering a river and has been offered more money for it than he made working most of his life.

Rural and urban folk throwing shade at one another. A tale as old as time. I've lived both lives. Y'all aren't so different really.

Well If King county is losing population, it certainly isn't reflected in real estate values.
Right? This entire thread bears the intellectual heft of Yogi Berra's "nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."

I grew up in Issaquah. I used to spend a lot of time in and around Seattle. The good ole days. Eleven years ago I moved onto 7 acres outside of Cle Elum. I spent 200,000. I have no idea what my place is worth today. I dont care because Ill never move. I paid my house off in four years. I was lucky I could do that. My property taxes are 2000.00 a year! Are there things Ive given up, sure there are. The benefits so outweigh the sacrifice's its not even a thought. Its so quiet and peaceful here. To me its paradise. I certainly dont ever expect to see the same kind of unrest here that we see/have seen in the urban areas. A lot of us locals have talked about it, If it ever comes here, its going to end here! Seattle’s totally burned down. Nothing left. So bad a squid and it’s buddies moved in to the wreckage and started a hockey team.

Keep Calm and Carry On? Heck No. Stay Excited and Get Outside!
