After many injuries and other trials I finally got out climbing again. A friend and I were able to get permits for the Stuart zone somewhat last minute! We were not up for the North Ridge or anything that big so we chose the NE couloir of Argonaut.
It was a great decision! Great weather and a very easy route!
The route is the obvious skinny couloir up the left side. Then traverse right across the summit snowfield and up to the summit.
Here is a closer shot.
The approach was pretty straightforward. The trail is actually easy to follow now. We cut up too soon and ended up in negotiations with slide alder to let us pass. Starting up further up the creek 1/4 mile would have made a big difference.
Once we were above the slide alder it was easy snowpack all the way to the bowl.
After a great sleep and a relaxed morning we started up the route.
It was easy snow for the first 1000 ft.
The first rock step was short and 5.5.
Above the second rock step it was steeper snow.
Then one more rock step of 5.5.
Across the summit snowfield.
And a couple boulder moves to the summit!
Then back down the summit snowfield and a couple raps off the north east side.
Flattish snow to the Colchuck Col.
See this TR for pics of the Colchuck glacier.

I linked to Amazon. Apparently Amazon does not work here?
Can someone recommend a FREE site I can put the pictures into and link them from there?
Otherwise, I will just bag it. Too busy.

You don't have to do that anymore, just hit the paperclip and add the photos from your device.

If you wanted to link photos, Google Photos works best too

Drat. I was hoping these links would get fixed. I did this route ages ago with Erick Johnson, and it would be fun to see it again--heh, that last snow slope before the summit was scary. I host images on imgur, if that helps...free, fast, reliable. Good luck.
Here's a shot highlighting the route we did. ...same one, right?
