Wedgemont Lake is a hike just north of Whistler. It is somewhat less traveled than Garibaldi Lake, Elfin Lakes, Checkemus Lake, Russet Lake, or Black Tusk.. The road is well marked of highway 99 and is 1.8 of typical Canadian logging road to trailhead. The trail is 14 K. (5 mi.) in length with a 1200 M. (3800’) gain. The trail starts off through an old clearcut to a creek crossing. The crossing is currently on portable bridges. After leaving the gully you ascend a hogback to a large rock slide to many short steep switchbacks in woods. There are two flat stretches along the way. To the right is a 300-meter falls that is quite impressive but hard to get a clear view of. Eventually you emerge onto subalpine woods where a recent avalanche has devastated the trail, which is rerouted with snow covered in debris to the side. Bugs attacked whenever you stopped. The route now ascends a rocky loose dirt gully alongside a steam to Wedgemont Pass. Here there are good views to the valley and the lake in the distance. There are many flowers in the tundra to the turquoise lake. A glacier ends near the lake . There is a hut in the area with a unique outhouse maintained by the BC mountaineering club available for use. There are three peaks that appear to be simple glacier climbs nearby.

It's a shame you didn't get better weather, we saw the forecast and headed down to blue skies in the Glacier Peak Wilderness. Anyway I still affirm that Wedgemount is the prettiest lake I have ever seen, thus it's the one featured next to our names.
