Every time I pass by in my car I wonder if there's a trail that heads up into that rugged ravine.....

Looks like an interesting area to explore.

There is an old road that comes off the Great Wall trail and descends ino the valley and crosses the creek. It continues past a swampy lake and becomes a trail down to The John Wayne. There is also a trail on the ridge to the east.

Change Creek is the next major drainage east of Mt. Wa. There is a rugged path that goes up the creek to some waterfalls.  Just east of the Change Creek Bridge on the Iron Horse Trail is the start of the main Change Creek/Hall Point Trail that can be used as an alternative approach to Mt. Wa:

It leads to a drug camp. See the other thread for details.

Thanks for the topic. From P3 Defiance etc I've been looking at the area west of McClellan's wondering if folks connect those named and unnamed highpoints between Greenway-change-washington  but was afraid to get lost in the maze of old logging roads. Details seem a little bit lacking or links gone (Whitebark?) but looks like I can just get familiar with the drainages and look for trails heading up from the JWT correct? Can the zigzag be followed all the way up the ridge?
