Not a chance! Been clobbered everywhere in the last 2 weeks. It doesn't seem to make a difference where you go. Lakes, peaks, ridges...they're everywhere

Yeah bugs are bad (depends on location of course). My bug hat was the most treasured peice of gear last weekend. Looks similar to this except it weighs less. Just don't foget it's on when you're trying to eat.

People, BUGS are a very normal part of the outdoors! It always surprises me when I hear people complaining so much abou the bugs. I dont like them either, but you have to deal with them. Dont ever NOT go on a trip simply because of the bugs! The bug issue was HORRIBLE at Jordan lakes this past weekend, but I didnt let it get me down. Everything else about the trip was wonderful.
Enough of that. Dante and I are going to do the Squaw lake, peggys pond, circle, venus, spade, deep lake trip! Hope the weather holds!

I know it sounds wussy as all get out..but i don't react normally to misquito bites... they take months to heal and stop itching even if i don't scratch them! I would rather suffer pain than itching any day! I turn into a maniac! I do most of my back packing in the fall and winter..when things are much more calm.. most years i find the beginning of sept a good starting point. These late melts drive me berzerk!

I'm going to Lake Tahoe and meeting my old friend who lives in Phoenix. Tahoe is a nice mid point. I'm taking my boots along. I hear that Mt. Tallac is a nice hike. Has anyone here done it?

Tomorrow I will be climbing Shroud (Point 6243) overlooking Necklace Valley. It is a Homecourt Peak. Fri-Sun I will be climbing several peaks near SR 20; Golden Horn, Tower, and Mt Hardy. The first two are Bulger Peaks and the third comes in at a respectable 8000+ feet.
