I was kind of wondering where you saw snow.

Newt - right on. I wouldn't have guessed that. I was going to go with monkeyflower. But hubby guessed the picture posted by Logan Jenott is naked broomrape (Orobanche uniflora).
Newt. where did you see the plant you posted? It looks a lot like Phacelia (Phacelia linearis). We've seen narrowleaf phacelia around Whiskey Dick.

I'm betting Newt got his at Whiskey Dick or close by recently---I too have seen these on the slopes heading down into Rocky Coulee near Whiskey Dick. Nice one Newt!

WD it was. I'm not sure exactly where but there were numerous sightings of it. I even saw some Menzies Larkspur nodding in the breeze.
Dang, I love E. Washington. It's so nice to look where you're stepping rather that who you're bumping into.

The color and bilabiate corolla made me think Penstemon. Thanks Newt and Marta. That's a nice flower.

Penstemon was another good guess. I didn't think it was it because you couldn't see the stamens in the picture.
Here's one. Teanaway Ridge Trail - Memorial Day 2004.

Broomrape it is! Makes me think of an incident some years back involving a couple of NYPD cops, an interrogation room, a suspect, and a broom handle...

Allium scilloides, maybe?
MaryLou, it was a freak snowfall. SaddleMountain in Oregon's Coastal Range had been snow free until the night before my hike. AussieRules and I encountered first a dusting, then two or three inches. When we got above the tree line the wind had created drifts hip deep along the trail. We did reach the summit and the clouds lifted just enough to see the ocean and the Columbia. By the next day the snow was gone again!

Great guess Kellie. I was thinking it was that one but I think the shape of the flower is a bit different. I think it is Allium crenulatum. If you do the Teanaway Ridge hike, it is very easy to find. There are patches of it all along a rock scree just before you get to the ridge top and trail junction.
I wish I had more good photos. I've never really mastered the close-up capabilities of my G2.
