The next time I'm thinking about how much I hate my job, I'm going to reflect back on this week. I am working the Bolshoi Ballet's production of Swan Lake. One of the best ballet companies in the world doing one of the greatest ballets of all time. The dancing is absolutely incredible, like no ballet I've ever seen. Swine Lake, as we call it, is a spectacular piece of music. Everything about it is sheer perfection. They pay me money to, for the most part, watch the show. The company is obviously all Russians, and none of them speak English, and there are only two translaters for the whole lot of us, but this adds to the fun of it. The pantomime of working out cues backstage is truly hilarious. We laugh a lot. The Russians are big into gifts, and I'll be having to do some shopping tomorrow for the guys on the road crew. What a fun week we are having. If any of you have even the slightest interest in ballet, get a ticket for this show. It's only running through Sunday afternoon, and the Bolshoi almost never tours. This is a rare treat.

Nice post but I'd still prefer to be out hiking. They've always said, the best day in the office is not as good as a bad day in the mountains (not exact quote but something like this) although it sounds like you've got a pretty sweet deal with the ballet group. Enjoy yourself. Ya neh gavaritchy pa russki ochen hoorashow. Das vadanya wink.gif

One reason I love winter in the city is that I love the arts; something I don't usually patronize during backpacking season. I have already enjoyed 2 plays and one symphony this fall, with many more events marked on my calendar. I've been mulling about Swan Lake, but alas! cannot seem to fit it into my schedule! You are a lucky duck (swan) indeed, for being near such beauty.

It's so nice when you can enjoy what you do! I'd love to get out for some of that theatrical stuff this year. Never had the opportunity to do it, but maybe this year will be different. Well, I HAVE seen Elvis and a few others this year at the Muckleshoot Casino, I wonder if that counts. wink.gif

You BET it does. I've wondered where he really went as I never did believe he could be dead. Elvis has been hiding out near Auburn. tongue.gif
