Hey all, we're new to the forums (my husband and I). We're huge fans of post-hike ice cream/milkshakes/desserts of any kind. Does anyone have favorite stops around Washington hiking areas? Would love to add a pitstop (or two) on the way out from our next hike. We've been going all over the place recently (eastern WA, Cascades, ONP) so don't be restricted by area! Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

It's been many years, but the little store in Baring on Hwy 2 had decent ice cream.

Not Washington, but The Tall Pine in Pinehurst, ID has the best Huckleberry milkshakes, starting in a couple weeks!

In the North Cascades, Cascadian Farms on highway 20 near Marblemount is tasty. Got some great organic strawberry ice cream after my birthday hike back in May.

Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.

One time i was at a place in granite falls forget the name. Comin' back from a big steep endeavor up mountain loop vicinities. Asked for caramel. Salted caramel. One scoop. Guy said "no. I have 4 caramel type flavors, you're gettin' scoop of each. Like it or not." I then had 4 scoops of caramel type flavors. Only paid for one. Nice guy. Granite falls. Mountain loop vicinity.

Scott's Dairy Freeze in North Bend has soft serve ice cream and fruit milkshakes. I like their blackberry shake after a summer trip along I-90.

This one is amazing. Available fresh at the plant in Maltby, by the scoop. And the Fidalgo Drive In, here in Anacortes has a to die for blackberry shake if your heading to the San Juans

Never understood after-hike shakes unless it's a part of a hamburger basket/trough. Don't get me wrong; I'll never turn down a shake, but after a hike, I love a full-on grubbin' meal. So, now down to brass tacks. Wow, the creamery shop in Maltby and the place in Anacortes sound great! Has anyone been to the Rivers Resort near Forks lately? They used to have hand-dipped ice cream shakes and malts – along with lots of hamburgers. But when the Twilight craze descended upon the town, regular folks couldn’t get any ice cream; it was reserved for people on the Twilight Tour buses, and I haven’t been to Forks since all that nonsense ended. Anyway, the River Resort outside of Forks. Coming back from 3rd or 2nd Beach hikes; give it a shot & report back on the shakes. I hope they didn’t cheapen out & that they still use real ice cream! And their hamburgers are good too. Just FYI.

A shake at the 49er Diner, duh!

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

The Snoqualmie is perfectly smooth and creamy, with no bits to get stuck in your teeth, but jam packed with blackberry flavor. The shake at Fidalgo has your usual chunks of fresh blackberries in it. Both delish. Fidalgo sometimes has Dole pineapple shakes, which are killer when it gets really hot outside

Second vote for Cascadian Farms - raspberry ice cream with chocolate chips. The best. Sometimes I stop before the hike and after the hike. Double dippin', chocolate chippin'. Scott's is always a good spot and a nice view of Mt Si if you sit outside.

Viscontis gelato in Leavenworth directly below the restaurant. The restaurant is overpriced/overrated, but the gelato is good.

Yes, Cascadian Farms is open (Thurs - Sun, I believe). Unfortunately for them, they are located just beyond the Hwy 20 detour, so most traffic headed over Hwy 20 does not get routed by their fruit stand anymore. I'm sure they would appreciate some business!

Does anyone know if Cascadian Farms near Marblemount (or Rockport?) Is open during this covid mess?
Yes. Stopped there yesterday. I think they are only selling prepackaged pints and cups of ice cream, though.
