This is a hiking secret I can divulge....
After a week in the Olympics coming SE corner of the Olympics. You may want to stop for Ice Cream at Hunter Farms, in Union, Wa. Actually the farm store is between Union and hwy 101.
The ice cream is made locally and the best I've ever tasted. Suggest you buy the pint for $5 which can be filled with up to 3 flavors. Can't recommend a flavor as they are all exceptional.
Ah, good call! I've stopped there a couple of times and they've had excellent ice cream. Only downside is that they close pretty early. I've had my hopes dashed a few times when they weren't open.
Remembered another one that is very convenient when returning from hikes in the Buckhorn wilderness - Twana Roadhouse / 101 Brewery in Quilcene. They have a small selection of some pretty good ice cream. I highly recommend the mocha chip!
