I have an old 35mm film camera that I'd like to get cleaned up and working again. Anybody still work on these dinosaurs?

My wife had a pair of Canon FTBs that she used in college for her degree. About 5 years ago she had local camera shop give her a bid on cleaning and servicing them. After that bid, she chose to keep them for sentimental value, but apply a small portion of the estimated cleaning and servicing cost toward a new DSLR.
The other challenge with film cameras is you pretty much have setup your own dark room for developing and printing -- or mail away your film for developing.

Still have my Canon FT and a couple lenses works faultlessly, winterized for Himalayas at Glazers. Gave away all my Nikor tanks, trays, enlarger, dryer, and paper. So it goes

FWIW: Amazon.com is selling a Pentax K1000 for $172
Lots of K1000's on eBay for under $200 , some even claim they are refurbished and "like new"

Surely there are plenty of camera repair shops in Seattle that will take your old camera and change the light seals and check the shutter speeds, etc. Check reviews online and see what's close to you. Eg, this place came up when I searched.

Some of the older Pentax mount lenses are still highly regarded and worth a lot more than you would think. I sold a few on craigslist and was shocked at how much they went for.

Not for Seattle, at least. Here are two labs in the city that still do film processing/printing:

Funny, I was just going through my old junk today and found a K1000 with a couple lenses (50mm prime, 80-200mm). It's pretty grungy but seems to work OK. They made this model for 20 years! All mechanical aside from the light meter.
