Polar Pure is available again. https://www.amazon.com/Polar-Pure-Iodine-Purifier-Sterilizes/dp/B00N5AGT1Q The Sawyer mini-filters are cheap enough to replace annually.

Thats Iodine. Iodine requires more contact time and is not effect on Cryptosporidium and has little effect on Giardia. Combined with filtering, Iodine can easily kill any remaining virus. Chlorine Dioxide is the only single use chemical that kills all with 3+ hours. See https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/pdf/drinking/Backcountry_Water_Treatment.pdf

^^^ Useful chart. A traditional, simple and very effective method of disinfecting water is to boil water and make tea. Kills everything, including virues.
