The Colville Confederated Tribes produced a sobering documentary about what went down at the Wenatchee River and Icicle Creek confluence (Wenatchapam fishery).
The short of it was this fishery was declared in I think the 1855 treaty as a reservation with fishing rights for the Wenatchi people. A crooked US government "Indian Agent" removed survey markers and then moved the reservation from Leavenworth to Lake Wenatchee, which the Wenatchi could not fish to the same degree and was later moved back to the proper location, but now with a railroad through it. The end result was the Yakama nation were lied to but ended up with fishing rights to the Wenatchapam fishery and the Wenatchi people did not. The Wenatchi people were historically the primary fishers of this area, though they had shared it with many other tribes.
As far as I know, there is still efforts in work to right this wrong.
There seems to be an electronic wrinkle. King County Library System acquired the article from the UW Library and sent it to my email address as an attachment. I tried to copy it but couldn’t.
