That does not look like a dynamic climbing rope it looks to be at least 30mm.
LOL. Well, you only said dynamic rope in the original post (not dynamic climbing), and while I've no doubt that isn't a climbing rope, I'm pretty sure it's not a static rope either.

Yeah prusiking up a dynamic rope is a slow pain in the ass. I've never done it up a static rope, but thinking about it, it seems like it would be easier.
I imagine you're correct. Though like I said I don't think that is a static rope in the pic, but it is secured at the base, which I expect also makes it easier.

if you're going to rap somewhere without a ladder you should learn to do a Texas prusik and carry cords for it.
Looks interesting, though like I mentioned before I really don't imagine I'd ever be in need of a prusik climb. Probably good to know anyways.
The reason it's a good skill to have is if you ever rappel anywhere you can't otherwise get out of. I don't know if that could ever be relevant to you in practice.
any real reason to not use decades old but undamaged steel carabiners?
Nope. Carabiners basically last forever if they're undamaged. It's hard to imagine a regular person generating the kind of forces needed to break a steel carabiner outside of an industrial setting anyway.
