I will, Galiwalker. I saw in his Wikipedia bio that he was a Gurkha. Don’t they have kind of a reputation, going back to the days of British India, as the “berserkers” of the British foreign regiments? That never surrender/fight to the death mentality; first to arrive, last to leave. This line from his bio is just incomprehensible:
“He made his first major climb in 2012, reaching the summit of Lobuche East, without any previous experience as a mountaineer.”

They delve into that in the movie, as well as the fact that he was the first Nepali to join the British SBS (Special Boat Service...so naval commando).

I just discovered this guy by accident. Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes) loved his stuff. You can see more of it here:

I'm thinking of Dead Horse Point near Mazama as I watch this. Superb 10-point u-turn skills, and nerves of steel as well.

Great memories. In my youth back then - hadn't cracked 20 yet - and other than hocky (just four years removed from the Miracle on Ice) I didn't give any credit to ice skating as a sport or Olympic event. I was all about the skiing (go Phil & Steve), bob sledding, and other action sports. For some reason I happened to be watching the Olympics "live" when the ice dancing came on, and I caught this performance and the build-up to it. Damn! I was mesmerized, and still remember it to this day.
