I'm not sure, but I think it might have been JanSport. I am pretty sure it was one of the corporate sponsors for the successful 1975 K2 expedition, of which Jim was one of the four Americans to summit. In the ad, which was a full page picture, Wickwire (who is pretty short) was standing next to Jim Whittaker (who is 6'5"). Side note: I worked with one of the team members, Cherie Bech, at Olympic Memorial Hospital in Port Angeles in the early 1980's. She and fellow team member Chris Chandler joined my family for Thanksgiving, and I got to know them pretty well.

The only easy day was yesterday...
