Not to mention a rigid fork. Let us know how it goes. Those two stroke engines are very noisy and leave behind quite a plume. During the 1973 gas crush, a neighbor of mine got an Italian 50cc moped in response to the odd/even day regimen that was put in place. He ended up burning up the engine pretty quickly.

We don't plan to go more than say 30-35 mph, and if you use Amsoil 2 stroke oil, there is typically very little smoke. I am just curious how it will work and for 100 bucks, it is worth a try to me. I have always wanted to put an engine kit on one, and not expecting a lot. I am retired and I get bored, so I need toys. clown.gif

You should change those tires out for slicks to improve braking power. That bike is set up for mud and gravel, and lower speeds. Expect the back wheel to give you trouble sooner or later. Like spokes breaking. I would want to stay on top of that too but get stranded. When the time comes if you still like the bike it's not a big deal to address.

Took it on it's "Maiden Voyage" yesterday and it really isn't that loud and there was very little smoke despite the break in fuel oil mix of 16-1. Bending the pipe to clear the pedal was a PITA, but once I heated it up good with thee torch, it worked. I had the chain too loose and ended up breaking the master link, ordered 3 more for about 5 bucks. I see what someone said about the braking, I think we will keep it below 25 mph for safety.

Reminds me of the stuff my mechanic dad used to build when I was a kid lol. Custom go karts, sand rails, etc.

Seems that was incorrect information, upon further research I found that top speed is 25-35, and that during the breakin period it’s probably 20 which is about my estimate of how fast I was going.

I will have someone hold my beer before I take off…I don’t think it will be that dangerous as long as one keeps the speed below 20-25.

Mr. Tom got me involved with e-bikes. I dont know how I could ever go back. There are simply too many advantages to them. To Toms credit, he likes to keep the power low so he gets a workout. That means something because its REALLY easy to crank it up and fly uphill at 35mph. LOL. My two bikes.

Built another 2 stroke bike kit for a friend much easier the 2nd time around. Question for any bike mechanics here, I need a pedal crank puller for an older Trek 26” mountain bike. I went to the local bike shop but they were out of stock. I want to order one on Amazon but there are a lot of different sizes, so kind of stuck here, help!

hmm I think a good old CWP-7 should work in most cases, but maybe you could post a pic?

Ok, I will bang on it some more tomorrow, I hate to buy a tool I will likely only use once. The 2 stroke kit actually came with a puller, it has 2 sizes and neither one fits my bike. Not sure why although I think 26" bikes are not as prevalent now as they were?
