This crime is getting out of control! https://livingsnoqualmie.com/car-prowl-at-olallie-state-park-trailhead-turns-into-carjacking-suspects-still-at-large/
Quote:
Updated 5:15 PM: The two outstanding males left the Bendigo/SW Mt Si area in a tan/gray vehicle. If you think you see the vehicle please call 911 and do not approach. According to the Media Relations Officer for the King County Sheriff’s Office, Corbett Ford, multiple agencies are looking for two people in North Bend suspected of a carjacking. Around 345 pm this afternoon, a person reportedly interrupted a car prowl at the Olallie Trailhead parking lot and gave chase to four adult suspects in a reported Dodge Charger who then fired shots at the reporting person. The suspects crashed their car, then hijacked a Blue 2022 Subaru Forester SUV with Carter Subaru dealer plates. The victim was hit in the head with a flashlight and pulled from her car. She has been transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. King County Sheriff, Snoqualmie/North Bend PD, Issaquah PD, and WSP were all involved in an active search for the victim’s vehicle which was found, lost and again and then found near the outlet mall in North Bend where two suspects were detailed. Two suspects are still currently at large in the North Bend area. The story will be updated as details become available.

Interesting... I read somewhere that a Charger was suspected to be the vehicle used for many of the recent smash and grabs. And another report mentioned a Tesla's sentry mode catching prowlers in the act that was shared with law enforcement. If these are the same goons, hopefully this will escalate things such that they're finally apprehended. What awful people.

Can you imagine coming back to your car after a long hike, having somebody threaten to kill you, take your car, and as if that wasn't bad enough now you're stranded and hungry. frown.gif mad.gif

That's why it might be a good idea to have an "Equalizer".

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

Is being shot at a threat to kill or attempted murder?

Sounds like more grist for the stakeout mill, now that it's known these TH bandit types are also armed & dangerous, maybe LE will take more interest. I still think it's a small number of people doing these break-ins and it wouldn't be far-fetched to assume they "do the rounds" of every TH off the highway. That's why I think TH host/monitors will be of limited effectiveness - you can't have someone at all of them, and the thieves will just go elsewhere that day.

On a somewhat related note, thanks to last year's House Bill 1054 (new police tactics law) that, among other things, bars high-speed pursuits except in very limited circumstances, the WA State Patrol reported a huge uptick in drivers fleeing traffic stops; that is, refusing to stop at all. Which sounds like the law just increased the incidents of high-speed crazy driving; just no chases. We're on our way to dystopia. shakehead.gif

The legislation limiting high speed police chases may be a response to incidents like this: https://www.kcra.com/article/high-speed-crash-kills-2-people-sacramento-chp-identified/40080261

^^^ Well duh. I'm aware we've had similar incidents in WA over the years. I'm just pointing out what the law change is getting us.

It just seems there was a handful that wanted this no chase law. If You haven't done anything wrong then you won't run chances are. Now that criminals know the police wont pursue there first thought is to run away.

Perhaps since the death of George Floyd and numerous other incidents, an increasing number of residents prefer their odds running away to the risk of a potentially fatal encounter with the police. A friend of mine encountered similar behavior while serving as Peace Corp volunteer in Ecuador. Drivers and passengers would flee the scene , on foot if necessary, any sort of accident , even leaving behind injured friends or family. They knew once the police showed up, they would arrest everyone and throw them in lock up. They would stay in jail until their family could raise enough money for the bribes needed for their release. Who was at fault not really a consideration.

Well they were four adults, that doesn’t inspire confidence that they got a good look at them.
