I assume some of you have met or knew Stephen Arno. The rest of us just have some of his books on our shelves. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/missoulian/name/stephen-arno-obituary?n=stephen-arno&pid=202178407&fbclid=IwAR1ZjQVGyAK_E1IoUOpVmNijdySHh8lwC7sw_q1M12LK2jaaP7_FPLadmy4&fs=e&s=cl

frown.gif I was lucky to score a free copy of Timberline at a Mountaineers table at a book event a few years ago. Great book.

I know him from the book he did on trees with Rebecca Hammersly. His papers on Lyall's larch are the best information on the species and can be found in extracts as a FS document, among other sources. The paper itself is behind a paywall at places like Researchgate and JSTOR.

Thanks for the information; his name is in many a bibliography and appendix on various land management documents; his expertise is so well-respected! And yes, his collaboration with Ramona Hammerley's beautiful artwork is wonderful! He was relatively young when he passed.
