Read this today in the Everett Herald. Besides funding for the Milk Creek Bridge, money will be available to improve the Heather Lake Parking Lot on the MLH, Downey Creek Fire trail repair, and some other outhouse replacement along the MLH.
Of course the most exciting headline for folks here is the Milk Creek Bridge replacement; no details on timeline but it would be great to see that reopen by next summer.

You are probably right if it takes all summer to “repair” the Snow Lake and Annette Lake trails.

I thought they are doing major improvements to snow lake? Annette lake closing all summer for repairs does seem silly.

FWIW the most recent scoping decision letter from April 2020 notes that environmental and public review, and tribal consultation, is complete so hopefully the project is more or less shovel ready. Apparently the plan is to build a suspension-type bridge near the existing Suiattle TH and extend the trail on the other side down to meet it. Since this is outside the wilderness area it should be easier to build with heavy equipment.
But you are right these things can be delayed. It would be nice symmetry to have the bridge reopen a "brief" 20 years after it was washed out!

I don't see an issue with the parking area other than it needs to be larger....the road OTOH is in terrible shape.

Me too!
Luckily that bridge site is outside of the Wild & Scenic boundary for the Skagit River System, so hopefully they won't have to do all kinds of weird stuff to plunk it in. I mean aside from the normal weird stuff. Which reminds me; is Bill Lider still kickin' ?
