I'm over here on the other coast visiting family in Branford, Connecticut. Last night while driving back from a fierce game of Go Fish with mom, sister and brother, the moon looked amazing looming over Long Island Sound. The reflection on the sound was vast and reminded us of a scene from Jaws, the one with the reflection of the moon and the lone swimmer... Last night's moon wasn't even full. I just read tonight is the actual Strawberry Super Moon! Maybe tonight's floodlight in the sky will be good enough to spot horseshoe crabs in the seagrass?!

Strawberry moon, blue moon, Keith Moon, harvest moon, blood moon, Warren Moon, etc. Why do we need all these catchy names for the same orbiting rock?

It sounds like some names are fragments of old lunar calendars from various Indian tribes: https://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/topics/what-are-names-full-moons-throughout-year
