EDIT: the best way to support this site is to remember to use our amazon shopping link at the top of the page whenever you shop at amazon. If you do this, NWH will receive a % of your purchase. The proceeds from the amazon link are more than covering our hosting costs so we have removed the donation link.
What does it cost to run this site? Roughly $1-2/day which covers our web hosting and domain registration. Additional funds generated are used to cover the cost of our annual social event (approx $400).

Tom,
If we use Amazon from this site but buy stuff with credit card points rather than a credit card does NWhikers still get a kickback?

It varies by category but averages 3-4%.

That's better than I imagined. I'll make sure to do Amazon purchases through the NWH link. Thanks-

Very interesting thing on Amazon pricing. I looked at a router (Netgear) and first clicked on an Amazon link from Netgear's site and the price was $229.99. I looked at it again by going straight through my browser home page to Amazon and the price was $194.90. I decided to click through from NWHikers and the price is $189.97. In all 3 cases shipped & sold by Amazon. That's quite a price difference with NWHikers giving the lowest cost.

I think the pricing may just have been in flux each time you checked pricing at Amazon as opposed to having anything to do with our affiliate link. I don't believe Amazon will vary prices depending on whether or not you choose to use an affiliate link. We obviously appreciate it when you use our link to support the site so thanks for your support.

That's interesting. At least we're not pricing higher! That would be very concerning if people were getting charged more than if they didn't use our link.

Not that it matters but Amazon is roughly doubling commissions for affiliates this month (I suspect relating to prime day promotions) so if you do buy anything on amazon this month and remember to click on our affiliate link before completing checkout it will go that much further.
