Planning my usual attempt. Something always thwarts me but it's become a thing. Will take 9-10 days in September. Have considerable understanding of the area but will take my time and enjoy the journey. Would like some companion(s) with physical ability and skills. It's a long, hard journey but with a good weather window could be the best quest in the Cascades. I'm not going to push it so if you're a 10-15 mile a dayer under those conditions I may or may not stay with you, again it's about the journey. Putting feelers out there. Watson route is the "easiest" but I've fought my way up Bacon creek, fun stuff. Trails? We don't need no stinking trails. September will be here before you know it.

May be a challenge this year with the late melt! Not necessarily the route, but Berdeen may not melt out. Last time we did it early September 2012 it was 1/4 snow covered, granted 2012 was also a late melt, but this year is likely going to be even later.

Good thing to keep in mind. We'll see how hot it gets this year and monitor similar areas, may not be the year and I'm okay with that, definitely want to raft.

We actually didn't raft Berdeen that year. Did for a little bit but one of the rafts was losing air (or so Dayhike Mike claimed, he may been a little too heavy for the raft that year, ha) and the water got a little choppy so we just bailed and walked the west shore. It was surprisingly easy walking, no issues.

smile.gif Thanks for that. Have one person possibly interested so I'm going to just focus on Berdeen and the Watson route. I'm looking at 9/16-9/24. Not sure if I want to take the raft (41/2 # with paddles) but definitely fish pole. I'm taking a lot of time to enjoy and because I can. Sneaking right up on me.

So I'm definitely going in on 9/16-24 even if there's a shower or two. May have one partner. I think I will wander in there regardless. If you want to join all or part and have skill set let me know smile.gif

Well, getting closer and so ready. Have one potential partner who's committed if smoke and weather's right. Now I'll have to decide coming out of Diobsub lakes to go to the West side or East side of Bacon Peak, thoughts are welcome. The way the weather is trending I will make a go of it solo if need be. I know, some are saying not smart but I have a lifetime of experience and I trust myself, I know when to quit.
