Having sifted trough dirt in the past for an archeologist, this looked familiar when I saw it on the ground, although I'm not knowledgeable at all. Anyone know where you'd report a small potential artifact?

A friend of mine leases several small parcels of land around his place - for dry land hay - from both the WA DNR and WADFW.
He recently ran into the same situation. He found what appears to be a previously un-documented homesteader site; faint house foundation, collapsed root cellar, etc
It turns out the WADFW does have a keen Archeology program….! Contact them!

The map doesn't seem to be highly accurate, but for future discoveries, it's best not to publish where the site is. Archy sites are often kept super secret, for a good reason.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

So the DAHP redirected me to the Burke Museum of Natural History’s website, where they have a submission form for the public to have artifacts identified by an archeologist.

In this case they confirmed it appears to be a chert (cryptocrystalline silicate) projectile point, and referred me to organizations in the area that would be interested: Yakima Museum & Cultural Center, Yakima Nation, and the Wanapum Heritage Center.
