It has been many decades since I've been there. Want to ski before the snow goes. But would rather not deal with the crowds on the Longmire side. Thanks

Live every day like you will die to-marrow. For some day that will be true.

Yes, I skied from Sunrise out to Burroughs last Friday and there is plenty of snow (although the snow was kind of sticky in the afternoon). Other popular ski routes right now would be Interglacier and Fryingpan Glacier (both require several miles of dry dirt hiking before you hit snow). The "corridor" part of the Emmons Glacier summit route was looking nice. Had fantastic snow high on the Fryingpan two weeks ago.

Yes, the low hanging fruit when the road opens is hike or skin toward Antler peak and ski the North aspect bowls for a 600vft run.

I didn't to it this year, but on similar years I've skied to Skyscraper Pass right after they open. That is a fun tour that is best with waxless skis (lots of ups and downs). It is likely to have some spots where you need to carry your skis.
