From DOT twitter feed. 24-hour lane closure on westbound I-90 just west of the summit Monday - Thursday. Crews are repairing bridge decks at Franklin Falls and Denny Creek.

Thunderhead, I think I just saw a post on the WSDOT FB feed that they finally awarded a contract to that project and it should be done by the end of September? Maybe? There's so much repair work that needs to be done on I-90, it's ridiculous.

I was just thinking this after being caught in a traffic jam Sunday in N. Bend as the lane with the giant hole forced traffic into two lanes. Does anyone know why repairs take so long? I chatted to a WSDOT crew a few mons back and they told me that the surface of 90 from N. Bend to the pass is from the 1960s. In Issaquah there are sections of the road missing and instead of repairing the surface someone just threw up a "Rough Road" sign. As you go westbound over the pass in the outside lane you have to veer to the right to avoid a mass of pot holes and ive seen rigs almost lose control in this section.

Plenty of incompetence to go around. What percentage of that "infrastructure" bill was actual infrastructure? 3%? 4?

7 % if one only counts "roads and bridges" as infrastructure. 24% if one also counts various other transportation related projects. There was also considerable addition spending to make peoples individual homes more energy efficient and add things like EV charging stations to people's homes. https://fortune.com/2021/04/06/biden-infrastructure-plan-what-is-in-it-policy-proposal/ This article indicates that if one used the same metrics as used under the Trump administration for counting projects as infrastructure, Biden's bill allocation 2/3 to infrastructure. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/11/09/false-claim-that-only-11-percent-infrastructure-bill-goes-real-infrastructure/ All politicians lie, so to get a more complete picture it is useful to consult a wide range of media sources, not just those owned by Rupert Murdock or Julian Sinclair Smith
