A 3-day trail crew on the Pacific Crest Trail sponsored by PCTA and inimitable Trail Steward Mark B!
This was an unusual experience because we were able to car-camp in the area where the PCT crosses the gravel access road at Tacoma Pass. So we were able to bring coolers, 2-burner Coleman stoves, loaves of bread, and lots of other fresh food! Mark brought a propane campfire for socializing after dinner.
Our crew of six logged the PCT three miles north of the pass. We were able to clear a bunch of smaller blowdowns and one big one. Once we were done logging we spent the last day on brushing and drainage. Several through-hikers thanked us for clearing our section of trail.
Mark kept up the emphasis on safety. We had a LOT of fun, and got a LOT of work done.
Safety Briefing Bristling with tools! Trail crew ahead! The pole saw came in handy. Swamping tons of branches Cut plan After! Around the propane "campfire" Relieving pressure on a spring pole Lots of drainage work too!
