If you lived over on this side o' the crest you'd also know that there's no shortage of wolf/grizzly-hating fearmongers who peddle falsehoods

huh? I'm in Tacoma. The "fear" peddlers are in no short supply on either side of the Cascades. wink.gif it's all a bunch of hype. gotta wonder how Spock would compute "the odds" of being attacked by a grizzly bear. lol.gif

You all think you are adding value with those posts? I don't think so.

This unfortunate 2021 incident out of Montana is being reprinted for some reason ... maybe as a seasonal cautionary tale. Seems the SOP recommendation is all food at least 100 ft away from your sleeping area. A camper scared off a grizzly bear — then it came back and killed her "Although she moved her snacks and lentils out of the tent into a nearby building, the bags in which she kept her toiletries still smelled of the dried blueberries they’d once contained, investigators said. Moreover, she still had food — beef jerky, trail mix, granola bars, a baked potato — in the saddle bags draped over her bike, which was about 10 feet from her tent."

"There are yahoos out there. It’s why we can’t have nice things." - Tom Mahood

this story only reminds you that grizzly bears are not to be trusted.
