I have no idea so dubbed it E.T. plant. Someone on the trail said Fiddlehead Fern, there were none around there.
Mt. St Helen's Hummocks Trail.

My daughter Kyra found this plant in the woods near her house in Leavenworth.  Haven't figured out the family yet, any ideas?

The fiddlehead shaped coils make me think itís in the Boraginaceae.

It is a type of Phacelia - Tall Scorpionweed - Phacelia procera.  Related to waterleaf.
