Another night out in the cascades while Moon was skinny. This time on Hannegan Peak where I did a similar trip but with full Moon. Debated whether to camp on Ruth Summit/Arm, but decided on Hannegan for better viewing Milky Way over major peaks. Also it's simpler to hike to.
It was still very hot Sunday afternoon and BUGGY, mostly little ones to fly around but some big ones to dive bomb on me. Arrived at the top after 7pm, I was alone for the night, had spectacular views and fewer bugs.

As usual, slept through the sunrise, summit shots:
Copper Ridge lookout Shuksan from my front porch Nooksack Tower
I've been to Ruth several times, all on skis in Spring and decided to check it out. The steep gully was a mess, good thing there were enough vegetation to assist. The rest was easy, then turned around when the snow got too steep for my hiking shoes (just an arrest pole, no snow traction). There are a few camp spots on the arm with nice views.

Nice! I'm actually planning on camping at the same spot this Sunday night.
2 questions - Is there water anywhere close to the top (maybe lingering snow patches)? Is the ridge toward Granite pretty melted out?
Thanks!
