It's a long and bumpy road to a spectacular, jaw dropping view. All of the fantastic peaks of the area gather around North Mountain. Fun the upper lookout you can see everything and you'll never want to leave.

What happens after this one day event? Will the tower be open for hikers?

I'm not affiliated with the place, I've been there twice and was blown away by the view. As a hiker it's impossible not to be, the place is ringed by all the dramatic peaks we've admired from so many different angles. But I don't think there's hiking from the lookout. There's great road and mountain biking, fantastic skiing with snow on the ground.

Bernardo....the lookout is a rental so if rented, is off limits to visitors unless invited up. I'm pretty sure there's nothing to keep you from hiking up there from the gate just to visit the place. A better way to visit, of course, would be to rent the lookout and enjoy some time up there to soak in the views and the quiet of the night. cool.gif

This is great, especially for the mountain biking community. I've been up there a few times, always when there was snow. You can get good views without going up the lookout, but it is obvious that from the top you can see more. When I've been there, they closed the stairs a little bit from the top platform. Hopefully, with this work done, during the winter and spring they will lock the door to the inside part of the lookout, but allow visitors to walk around the outside deck.
