Alleged Sockpuppet!

Harts pass road is blocked by a slide. They are sending equipment up tomorrow. Alert - Hart's Pass Road, Okanogan County: A slide across Hart's Pass Road near Hart's Point earlier this evening has blocked vehicle access on the road. Equipment is being mobilized to clear the slide and reopen the road as quickly as possible. This is a very narrow road with very few places to turnaround so forest users are asked to stay off of Hart's Pass Road tomorrow, Tuesday August 23, while equipment works and until the slide is cleared.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human末animals and aliens are great possibilities

Heavy thunderstorm? Rambunctious goats? I'm curious what would have triggered that during this weather.

Thunderstorms. We kept getting emergency alerts yesterday over here about flash floods and debris flows in western Okanogan county

No indication of any precip on the Hart's Pass snotel. Oh, but 0.5 inches at Mazama telemetry site!

NWS Spokane provided this image yesterday. It probably cruised over Hart's Pass before it got to the position shown in the pic.

Love our micro climates. Thanks for this update. Maybe they will do a little added tlc to the road.

There are little cells of precipitation making the rounds today also.

The US forest service announcement can be found here. The Methow Valley Fire Information facebook page has this info and a photo of one of the slides at Deadhorse Point.

Report for today--8 slides. Alert - Hart's Pass Road (5400), Methow Valley Ranger District, Okanogan County - August 23, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. Today crews from Okanogan County were able to clear a single lane path through multiple slides across Hart's Pass Road. This is a temporary repair that will allow parties who are already beyond the slides access to leave the area. Forest users are asked to avoid the area while crews continue to make repairs and fully clear the road. This is a very narrow road with very few places to turnaround if you encounter equipment working. After tomorrow, we hope to have a better assessment of the extent of damage to the road and whether additional repairs will be needed. As crews worked to clear the slides and evaluate the damage they discovered more than eight slides, where we had initially thought there was just one. The rock and debris slides across Hart's Pass Road occurred near Dead Horse Point on the evening of Monday August 22. Photo: Okanogan County equipment working to remove a rock and debris slide on Hart's Pass Road. Why do I have the urge to go up there now? frown.gif

Wasn't going. It just makes me think of it. Geesh. Have there been a lot of gawkers or something? Getting righteous post IN UPPER CASE telling us less intelligent, (I guess) folks to STAY AWAY. They are not official folks, just the usual righteous ones. I Am Not Going Up There. The Mentioning Of It Brings Back Memories Of Being Up There And Simply Causes An Urge To Be There. I mean, why would anybody want to drive up a road that is considered to be the most dangerous eek.gif in the state when dump trucks are likely to be running on it.

OK, this is officially one big mess. At this point there are probably upwards of 100 PCT hikers stuck up there. The US government frowns on thru-hikers crossing the border to catch a ride - won't let them back in if they do - so just about all of them are going north and tagging the border, then hiking back to Hart's Pass to bum a ride. Anybody got a taco truck in Mazama? You are needed up there! Hart's Pass Campground City. It's probably the third-most populous town in Okanogan County at this point. clown.gif
