1946 South Tahoma plane crash: https://www.historylink.org/File/7820 For decades a section of the South Tahoma Glacier was closed to all travel. The closure was still prominently posted when I first hiked on the west side of Rainier around 1964. With glacial recession I imagine portions of the aircraft have now surfaced amid morainal debris.
