My grandpa, who died when I was quite young, forged tools and stuff along with shoeing horses and farming. I have a picture of him in a building, shoeing a workhorse somewhere here in Eastern Warshington.
There were a lot of things with handles strewn around the ranch yard and when you are a kid, wandering around such a place, handles must be cranked!

Do these types of photos make anyone else feel like our society has it soooo comfortable? Here we are passing these things during a leisurely activity, when they may have been living up there and making a living using that thing! Pretty neat.
