Brown marmorated stink bug Aaagghhh! I had to move into a trailer this summer and the last few weeks I've been besieged by these bugs every hot, smoky afternoon. I've killed 100's and still they keep coming. (It feels like scenes in the Lord of the Rings where waves of orcs keep throwing themselves at the castle walls until inevitably a few get over.) I guess they've only been in our area for a few years, but cause enormous damage to food crops. Something about the chemistry of this trailer must be irresistible to them. The window I'm looking out of is spattered with bug juice!

We have been getting those the past couple of years in our house. I can't figure how they could be getting in but I almost always find them in a North side upper level bedroom. This year with all the tomatoes we are growing I have started seeing the southern green shield bug version of these bugs on our plants. Funny thing is the smell always reminds me of picking raspberries. I wonder if these bugs love raspberry plants too.

Yes, lots of these inside/outside our house in Kenmore lately.

The only pros to these bugs is they don’t reproduce in your home or cause structural damage, they just want a warm spot to winter over and will vacate (if they survive) once it warms up. Thanks for the id to distinguish between our native species!
