I generally have seen Rattlesnakes in the Icicle, before the burn at Black Canyon, and in the Mad River. It was typical on the latter two to see three or so snakes. Most will leave when you approach, but one in Black Canyon held it's ground and we walked around. I was told by trip members in Black Canyon I stepped on a Rattlesnake. Typically, I found them near the creek, so when I climbed out of the canyon I was not concerned and was looking around. I hope I didn't hurt the snake.....
