A good, brief, synopsis about where we are with fighting wildland fires….and why. It is oriented towards firefighters, but has some good points in general.
The author, Bobbie Scopa, was the Fire Staff (Chief) on the Okanogan-Wenatchee NF in the early 2000s and later Asst Director of Fire for the FS/BLM in the PNW and Alaska. Her bio is in a sidebar to the article. She has also done a series of podcasts on her career that are good, and funny. She knows her subject, well.
