The only time I’ve ever lost control and was pressed was at the 2nd (3rd?) Point Defiance bridge dedication. They kept feeding the crowd at the wide, east end by emptying buses. Then they had a constriction were WSDOT and contractor had installed speaking platform. Of course few people were there for speeches, they were headed west to walk the bridge. Fortunately no one was trampled and crush force was apparently didn’t pass the harmful stage. It is disconcerting to have no control. Even the Romans had learned exit ways get wider, and invented the vomitory.
