This guy built one in Canada somewhere. I do not know what the rules are there.
I've stayed in lots of "illegal" huts ski touring on crown land in Canada. I was told by the Canadians there that although the cabins are not legal, and did not receive any government approval, the government turns a blind eye to them so long as you don't try to lock the front door and keep it all to yourselves. They are all over the place up there. Some are on the internet and in guide books. Some are not. Just another way recreating in Canada is not as wild as in the US and more of a free for all. Where as in the US if you did the same thing on National Forest or wilderness land you would be committing ten different felonies and be looking at a prison sentence.
I remember reading an article in Ski Magazine about these. https://www.skimag.com/adventure/shelter-from-the-storm-0/

I think cabins in the woods are cool as long as you don't like sleeping with rodents and are immune to the hantavirus.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

Along with a registry inside the cabin.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Maybe the individual that build the treehouse a few years back on the Middlefork is back at it again?

Creepy. I agree with others saying it should be reported to law enforcement.
