I once stood here several years ago one spring. I had snowshoed up here with a couple of guys. We slogged through lots of blowdown. When we got to the frozen lake they wanted to turn back. I was willing to at least gain the far side and see what the ridge was like. Always wanted to go back. So I am quite envious.
Great report. Looks like a beautiful day up there. ~z

The route really is in good shape right now. That summit has some fine views!
That said there are a few large and small blowdown on the Dingford Creek trail, and a few more on the Goat Creek trial.
Also, I think it's best to stick as closely to the Goat Creek trail as possible. The few times we were off it were not that productive.
The last six miles of the Middle Fork Rd. seemed normally bad, with a few deeper than normal ruts.
What next?
