If any of you are on Twitter, it wouldn't hurt to neck up any data that's important to you, and remove any data you wouldn't want everybody to see. Likes, private messages, etc.

I wouldn't limit that to Twitter.

Allow me to remind myself again why I don't use cellular telephones. lol.gif When I feel the need to air out my dirty laundry on the interwebs, I'll let you know.

Thread was originally a joke about Twitter. Why the subterfuge?

My content has not changed. I'm still not using cellular telephones, or any of the various "apps" that people seem to be so attracted to. I did, however, uncover a patent number I wasn't aware existed before: patent 1619538 granted March 1 1927 to Ewald F. Pawsat for a bicycle tire repair tool. although the patent documents do not show an assignee, physical evidence shows that this unit was manufactured by Wald Mfg. Co. of Maysville, Kentucky (originally located in Sheboygan, Wisconsin)

What I found interesting about this is that Urich already had secured a patent on a similar device: patent 1313868 Aug 19 1919 Benjamin Urich - which obviously pre-dates the Pawsat patent. Urich's tool was marketed primarily by The Stevens Company of New York (which later secured controlling interest in Walden-Worcester to become Stevens-Walden-Worcester.)

Fascinating stuff. Way more interesting than anything that ever came out of Elon's mouth, for damn sure. up.gif No cellular telephones or "apps" were used in the production of this message or its content

Wald is still around making bike baskets, but I can't for the life of me figure out what that tool is supposed to do. Unless it was something specialized for pennyfarthings! lol.gif

Go! Take a gun! And a dog! Without a leash! Chop down a tree! Start a fire! Piss wherever you want! Build a cairn! A HUGE ONE! BE A REBEL! YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE! (-bootpathguy)

The device employed conventional rubberbands for the patch. Prior to Mr. Jeffery's invention of the "clincher tire" (patent 466789 Jun 14 1882 Thomas B. Jeffery) tires were usually repaired with needle and thread, among other things. (Mr. Jeffery is also the gentleman who brought us the "Rambler" automobile, as well as "Rambler" bicycles from 1878-1898 when he divested himself of his interest in the company and went on to build automobiles.)(Gormully & Jeffery) I have one of those little gizmos around here somewhere.... not sure where it is....

A new thread could have been started. What does Thanksgiving and Twitter have in common?
