There are a lot of marked XC ski trails not far out of Bend. They are set aside for skiers only. Snowshoes and snow mobiles have their own designated trails. These trails end up at a 'warming hut'. A simple 4X4 meter log structure with a wood stove. And plenty of wood. All built and maintained by volunteers: On USFS land. I wish we had something like this up in Washington. This is on the Benson snow park trail. It is a 7 mile r/t. The snow was great.Even if a bit heavy. Fortunately someone had been in there the day before and left a nice PACKED trail
