You are correct, that is the route of choice.
BTW, there is a ton of blowdown on the exit 42 connecter trail along the edges of the new clearcut.
The boulder field below Mason Lake was filled in enough for careful passage, and the boulders on the lower section of the Defiance's SE Ridge (aka the winter route) are nearly completely cover too. :-)
