Filbert, the elevation was around 2,500 feet, so I am guessing way too low for a mountain goat.
I know it's beside the point but I just wanted to mention that we saw a group right by Kamikaze Falls about 10 years ago at 2400 ft. I was not expecting to see goats that low, although it was in the winter.

One thing that I thought was interesting was that it was definitely traveling solo. It spent some time at one spot munching tall, dead grass, then took off up a steep hill through the trees.
