I didn't read the whole text, just skimmed it before posting. Read it to the end just now. It is as haunting as the photos.

A chilling vision of Mazama's future once Biden releases hordes of man-eating grizzlies in the North Cascades. Seriously though, great photos!

Besides the bears, a look back into Stalinist times as well. Such a project was likely built by persons swept up in one of the many purges that snared millions.

The Mazama Store ca.2082 you think? The surrounding McMansions will be seething with Pine Martens and Goats. Great set of photos.

McMansions? Yes, maybe. I like the tag "starter castle". Checking out the polar bear videos and fascinated with the scene with the bear on the pack ice, stretching and rolling, and casually stepping from ice floe to ice floe. The bear is so at home on the drift ice. smile.gif

The photo with the two bears sticking their head out of the window is great.

Spectacular images, and I liked the author's closing words. Life will indeed continue, even if human civilization doesn't. In fact civilization may need to end for life to continue.

I used to commercially fish out of a camp in Bristol Bay for a couple of decades. When we abandoned the camp in about 1990, the grizzly bears moved in to our shacks within a year.

Great story Schroder. I can just picture the griz strolling down the plank sidewalk, nosing open a door. I took a spin thru the polar bear photographer's website just now. There is a lot there, videos and still photography. Orcas, whales, seals, sea lions and more. https://www.dmitrykokh.com
